Jean-Marc Bastien is a passionate, young footwear designer. who has already accomplished some pretty noteworthy feats...
His journey started at the age of 14 when his 8th grade middle school art class took a field trip to tour a prestigious high school in Miami's Design District known as DASH (Design and Architecture Senior High). His eyes lit up when he walked into the Industrial Design room. Seeing all the amazing work and sketches of the students on the walls, from shoe sketches and projects, to automotive design, he fell in love at that very moment and knew he wanted to pursue footwear design.
Following high school, Jean-Marc attended MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design), where he got his BFA in industrial design. He got his foot in the door of the footwear design world (no pun intended) when he entered Pensole's 2016 World Sneaker Championship Competition, a competition where aspiring footwear designers from across the world compete to have the top sneaker design made and sold at Footlocker. He was selected as one of the Top 64 designs out of thousands of entries worldwide and then voted into the Top 32 round. Following his graduation he was awarded a scholarship to attend Pensole Design Academy in Portland, for a 3-week intensive ASICS Master Class, where only 18 aspiring designers were selected, 6 of which were selected for footwear design.
Jean-Marc then went to become a footwear design intern at Stacy Adams and now has a number of designs on the market, with more to come in the coming seasons... Just imagine 10 years later, a little kid's dream is becoming a reality.
However, Jean-Marc Bastien is a creative, and has big plans for the future. He won't stop until he is a well-known designer. Stay tuned for what feats he accomplishes next...
